About Us
Located in unspoilt countryside, Monte Mariposa is away from the impact of mass tourism, close to the village of Santa Catarina da Fonte do Bispo with a basic infrastructure of bank, stores, cafés and pharmacy.
It is 30min by car from Faro, 15min from Tavira and 15min from the Ria Formosa, with its endless quiet beaches and beautiful sea.
The Algarve boasts an average of 3.000 hours of sunshine a year. The warm climate is perfect for outdoor living. Summer can be sunny and dry and winters are usually mild with only some days of intense rain.
For us, our purpose is to deepen into the source and expression of who we truly are and we have here the support of what is essential in nature itself; dark skies, natural environment and simple facilities.

Miguel Abreu - Manager
Miguel came to Monte Mariposa in 2002 and is now the manager.
He has also an extensive practical experience in Ayurvedic medicines, alternative healthcare and spiritual practice.
Loves travel and to experience different cultures!
Marta Besio - Host
Marta: is an Italian mama and she is at service in Monte Mariposa to receive you and make you feel home. You can discuss with her details about your needs for your group, supporting you in logistics and organisation. She is a yogini and a natural chef.
Andy - Owner
Andy is from UK and has been the owner of Monte Mariposa since 2005.
